Discovery
Description:
Provide students hands-on experience designing research programs to address external market needs that will lead to enhanced Penn State / external collaboration.  Use external practices such as iCorp, Lean-Startup. The Business Model Canvas (BMC). Topics such as customer discovery, value proposition, business planning, financial analysis, and intellectual property will be covered.  Reverse the normal lean business creation process by using results and building a research program proposal to enable concept market commercialization with the sponsor organization.  Place an emphasis on connecting market need with research programs.


Market Need:
Broaden University exposure to market need, business, financial concepts, value proposition required for commercialization of new innovations.


Vision:
Reverse Lean Start-up model to get market need into research programs


Goals:

-Build a course to connect market need to research programs based on established lean start-up training

-Create projects engaging faculty, students and external sponsors to identify market need and research opportunities
